Stronger Together

2018 is a year of greatness and opportunity. If there is anything you have ever wanted to do, the time is now.

Our realities are often shaped by our experiences, and our experiences can often teach us limits to our abilities. Contrary to this belief, we are in fact limitless.

Over the past week, I have been touched by so many stories of triumph and achievement. The stories reconfirmed the limitlessness of human beings. I heard one story of an Afghan family who was able to flee the country as the strict rule of the Soviet Union took hold in the early 1980s. Another story of a fiercely strong homeschool mother who has simultaneously built a successful career from the ground up and has recently opened a second location of her therapy center. I live the story of a woman who survived being orphaned as a result of the crack cocaine epidemic on the African-American community that started in the 1980s and has gone on to maximize opportunity and purpose and to find peace.

No matter the societal restraints that exist around us, we are built to win. We are built to learn to navigate the challenges of nature and to survive another day. We have a choice whether or not to succumb to hardship and adversity. We have a choice to live no matter what. We have a choice to build the lives we want for ourselves despite where we are right now.

My purpose is to help those I encounter discover their own strength and courage to achieve their dreams no matter what. I truly believe in this cause and live it every day. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.” So may we all seek to live our purpose, realize our dreams, and commit to living our best lives no matter what. When we each are our best selves, we are strong together. The time is now.
